Where To Find Oscar Molds

Rocroy plant, a city in star

Hello,

Yesterday, we took the car for a walk in our area, we spent the Franco-Belgian border, to visit the city or Rocroy Rocroi (There are two ways to write the name of the city) who would find 35 km from our village.

Rocroy is a single walled city. First conceived in the reign of Henry II, about 1555, in response to the fortress of Charlemont built by Charles V, it includes a first fortified defense with five bastions, all different and a second chamber defensive and offensive, with half-moons and progress of the doors of Burgundy and France. This stronghold has not been fortified by Vauban.

From the main square, the former Place d'Armes, ten radio-concentric streets leading to the ramparts. The square is lined with houses, the oldest is the vintage 1676. Most modern houses have been rebuilt after the bombing of 1871.

The Town Hall dates from 1822, it was built on the site of the Hotel du lieutenant du Roy.
The church was built in 1844 and its spire is 53 meters. She has a great and wide nave and the altar is surmounted by a canopy of beautiful marble columns. Under the porch, a stone font blue Givet date of 1615.

On the green square, between 2nd and 3rd post, there is still a stone with a hole and which was the base of the old pillory.
Place du Luxembourg, the last guard of the garrison is a model of military architecture of the seventeenth century. It now houses the Museum of the Battle of 1643 and War 30. A little farther on the left, a vast military arsenal was built in 1692.

Rocroi provides a remarkable example of the oldest fortifications of France, the bastion, the five bastions inside date back to the reign of Henry II.

Following the progress of the artillery, the fort was decommissioned in 1889. There is more military activity since that time.
